Pause PixelRelay and choose who tracks each network

Three controls on one page: the pause switch, page views, and who tracks each network.

Where: Settings → Relay

Pause or resume sending

The switch is Send events to connected platforms. It's on by default and shows Live.

  1. Open Settings → Relay.
  2. Turn Send events to connected platforms off. It shows Paused since the date you switched it off, and every Settings page shows a "paused" banner so you don't forget.
  3. Turn it back on when you're done.

While it's paused, nothing goes to any platform. Events that arrive during the pause are dropped, not saved for later, and new events won't show up in the event log. Orders that arrive while paused are counted in Reports → Overview → Purchases & delivery as "arrived while the relay was paused".

Pause it while you connect platforms or debug a double-counting problem. Test orders reach your live ad accounts unless you pause first.

Track page views server-side

Off by default, and most stores can leave it off. Your GA4 tag already records page views in the browser, and keeping this off keeps your event count focused on conversions and the buying steps.

To turn it on, open Settings → Relay and switch on Track page views server-side.

It needs the Pro plan or higher. On lower plans the row says Upgrade required with an Upgrade your plan button.

On a Hydrogen store this is also what lets PixelRelay send page views for visitors whose browser blocks the tags.

Choose who tracks each network

Under Who tracks each network?, pick one sender for every connected network. Two senders on the same network is what causes double counting.

The list shows the networks you've connected from this set: Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Microsoft Ads, Reddit, Google Ads and Google Analytics 4. Klaviyo, Segment, Pinterest and LinkedIn don't appear here.

ChoiceWhat happens
PixelRelay — browser + server (recommended)PixelRelay adds its tag to your storefront and also sends from its servers. Both copies share one event ID so the platform can merge them.
PixelRelay — server-side onlyNo PixelRelay tag on your storefront. Events go only from PixelRelay's servers.
My existing setup (PixelRelay sends nothing)PixelRelay sends nothing for that network. Something else owns it.

Pick My existing setup when another tool already tracks that network: the official Meta or Google & YouTube app, tags in Google Tag Manager, or code in your theme. You don't have to uninstall anything.

Two networks behave a little differently:

  • TikTok: if PixelRelay has its own TikTok pixel, keep it on browser + server. If the official TikTok app uses the same pixel ID you gave PixelRelay, choose My existing setup. TikTok only merges events with an identical event ID, and two senders on one pixel can never share one.
  • Google Analytics 4: the GA4 tag handles browsing events in the browser, and PixelRelay's servers cover purchases and ad-blocked visits. GA4 can't merge browser and server copies of browsing events, so PixelRelay doesn't send those twice.

To undo, set the network back to PixelRelay — browser + server (recommended).

Common issues

A network isn't in the list. Only connected networks show, and only the seven above. Connect it under Connections first.

A network gets nothing. Check whether it's set to My existing setup. That's what the setting does. Switch it back if the other tool is gone.

Events still look like they're arriving after I paused. The dashboard and event log keep showing older events. Check the timestamps. Nothing new is recorded while paused.

Event volume is much higher than expected. Track page views server-side is on. Turn it off unless you need it.
