If something else already sends the same events to Reddit, you can count sales twice. Reddit only merges two copies when they share a conversion ID, and your old pixel's IDs won't match PixelRelay's.
Do it in this order
Do it in one sitting. It's the same order as Guided setup → Switch & enable:
- Connect Reddit in PixelRelay, and finish the store check and plan approval if you haven't yet.
- Under Switch over Reddit, turn off each old source below (or check you don't use it) and click Mark as done.
- Click Enable Reddit tracking right away. Leaving both on counts sales twice, and a long gap misses sales.
- Watch Event status on the same screen for the first event, then check it shows up in Reddit Events Manager.
- If the store check still finds old tracking on your storefront, remove it and click Check my store again.
Try not to switch in the middle of a big sale or campaign push.
Reddit Ads app
The Reddit Ads app for Shopify installs the Reddit Pixel using Shopify's web pixels. In Shopify admin, open Reddit Ads and turn off or disconnect its pixel and conversion tracking. Reddit's help doesn't spell out where the switch is, so look through the app's settings. You can keep the app for your catalog and campaigns.
Google Tag Manager
Pause any Reddit Pixel tag (Custom HTML with rdt(, or a Reddit template tag), then Submit and publish the container. Check your server container too if you use one.
Custom pixels
Go to Settings → Customer events and click … → Disconnect on any pixel that sends Reddit events. Leave PixelRelay's own pixel (PixelRelay Checkout Tag) connected.
Theme code
Go to Online Store → Themes → … → Edit code and search layout/theme.liquid and snippets/ for rdt(. It looks like this:
rdt('init', 'a2_abc123def456');
rdt('track', 'PageVisit');
Make a copy of your theme first (… → Duplicate), then remove the snippet, or ask whoever added it.
Other tracking apps
Elevar, Littledata, Analyzify and similar apps can send Reddit events too. Turn Reddit off in that app.
Check again
If your own Reddit Pixel is on the storefront, PixelRelay stops firing its own Reddit browser events, but it still sends server events. That's why the old pixel needs to go. Once you've removed it, click Check my store again.
The store check can't see custom pixels or anything sent from servers, so check those yourself.
Switch back
Turn the old setting back on. To stop PixelRelay's side, set Reddit to My existing setup (PixelRelay sends nothing) under Settings → Relay → Who tracks each network?
