Connect Recharge

Recharge tells PixelRelay when a subscription starts, renews, gets skipped, fails a payment and so on. Renewals never touch your storefront, so this is how PixelRelay sees them.

  1. 1. Create a Recharge API token

    1. In Recharge, go to Tools and apps → API tokens and create a token for PixelRelay. (PixelRelay's form calls this Integrations → API tokens. Recharge has renamed it.)
    2. Give it Read access to Orders, Subscriptions and Customers.
    3. Keep the token's API access token and API Client Secret handy. You need the access token for step 2 and the Client Secret for step 3.

  2. 2. Create the webhooks

    Recharge creates webhooks through its API, not from its admin screens, so ask your developer or Recharge support to do this part. They need:

    • The token from step 1.
    • The Webhook URL from PixelRelay: Connections → Recharge Subscriptions → Connect, then click Copy.
    • One webhook per topic, pointing at that URL:
    subscription/activated
subscription/cancelled
subscription/paused
subscription/created
subscription/updated
subscription/skipped
subscription/unskipped
order/created
charge/upcoming
charge/failed
charge/max_retries_reached
charge/refunded

  3. 3. Connect in PixelRelay

    1. In PixelRelay, go to Connections → Recharge Subscriptions → Connect.
    2. Paste the token's API Client Secret into Webhook signing secret. Not the API access token.
    3. Under Renewal destinations, choose which ad platforms also get renewals. Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit and Pinterest start on. Google Ads and Microsoft Ads start off, because a renewal usually has no new ad click behind it.
    4. Click Connect.

    Editing later? Leave the secret blank to keep the saved one.

Check it's working

  • Place a test subscription order, or wait for the next renewal.
  • In PixelRelay, open Reports → Event log and look for the Recharge event.
  • Check the platform too: Events Manager for Meta, Analytics → Metrics in Klaviyo, and so on. Allow a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to do
Upgrade required on the Recharge cardRecharge needs Growth or higher. Change plan in Plan & Billing.
Nothing arrives from RechargeThe webhooks probably don't exist yet, or point at a different URL. Ask whoever created them to check each topic uses the Webhook URL from PixelRelay.
Webhooks arrive but get rejectedThe secret doesn't match. It must be the API Client Secret of the same token that created the webhooks.
